Lauki with Chana Dal

Ingredients:

  • Chana Dal (Split Bengal Gram):
    2 Cup
  • Bottle Gourd (Lauki, Doodhi, Ghiya)
    500 Grams Cut into 1 Inch Pieces
  • Cumin Seeds
    1/2 Tea Spoon
  • Turmeric Powder
    1/4 Tea Spoon
  • Red Chilli Powder
    1/2 Tea Spoon
  • Coriander Powder
    1 Tea Spoon
  • Ghee
    2 Table Spoon
  • Garlic Chopped
    5-6 Cloves
  • Ginger Grated
    1 Inch Piece
  • Onion Chopped
    1 Large
  • Tomatoes Finely Chopped
    2 Medium
  • Green Chilli Chopped
    1 Piece
  • Fresh Coriander Leaves Chopped
    1 Table Spoon
  • Salt
    To Taste

Method:

  • Wash chana dal properly.
  • Take a pressure cooker add chana dal, bottle gourd,turmeric powder,salt, garlic & ginger to it.
  • Add 3-4 cups of water to the pressure cooker cover its lid & cook for 4-5 whistle.
  • Remove from heat & keep for cooling.
  • Now take a pan heat ghee in it.
  • Add cumin seeds wait till crackle, then add onion fry till golden brown .
  • Add tomatoes, green chillies, coriander powder, red chilli powder cook for 3-4 minutes.
  • When the pressure reduce, open the lid of pressure cooker stir it properly.
  • Transfer this chana dal to the pan cook for a minute.
  • Switch off the gas transfer the dal into a bowl.
  • Serve it hot garnished with fresh green coriander.

Ingredients:

  • Chana Dal (Split Bengal Gram)
    3 Cups Boiled
  • Gur (Jaggery)
    2 Cups
  • Coconut Grated
    2 Cups
  • Green Cardamom (Elachi) Powder
    1/4 Tea Spoon
  • Ghee
    3 Table Spoon
  • Cashewnuts
    2 Table Spoon

Method:

  • Blend a chana dal in a blender to smooth paste.
  • Heat a ghee in a pan.
  • Add chana dal paste saute till fragrant.
  • Add cardamom powder, coconut mix well.
  • Grease tray or thali with little ghee.
  • Add jaggery cook it till melts, add cashewnuts mix it.
  • Transfer the mixture onto greased thali or tray & spread equally.
  • Keep tray into refrigerat for set.
  • Cut into disired shaped & serve it.

Palak Dal

Palak Dal

Ingredients:

  • Chana Dal (Split Bengal Gram)
    1/2 Cup
  • Fresh Palak (Spinach)
    500 Grams Finely Chopped
  • Green Chillies
    2-3 Finely Chopped
  • Cumin Seeds
    1/2 Tea Spoon
  • Onion
    1 Chopped
  • Oil
    3 Table Spoon
  • Tomato
    2 Chopped
  • Coriander (Dhania) Powder
    3-4 Pinch
  • Ginger
    1/2 Inch Piece Chopped
  • Fresh Coriander Leaves
    6-7 leaves
  • Salt
    To Taste

Method:

  • Soak dal for half an hour.
  • Wash palak leaves properly & keep aside.
  • Heat oil in a pressure cooker.
  • Add cumin seeds fry for 1 second.
  • Add onion saute till golden brown,add tomatoes,ginger & coriander powder.
  • Cook for 1 minute.
  • Strain the soaked dal.
  • Add dal, palak & salt into pressure cooker.
  • Add 2 cups of water & pressure cook to give 3 whistles.
  • When pressure comes cool.
  • Mash the dal slightly.
  • Serve it garnish with coriander leaves.
